Following a healthy lifestyle could help older adults avoid disabilities that could significantly impact their daily life.

A study of nearly four thousand older adults finds people who were not physically active had a seventy-two percent increased risk of disability.

People who ate less than one serving of fruits and vegetables a day -- and those who smoked -- also had an increased risk.

Participants who had all three unhealthy habits were two times more likely to be disabled by the end of the twelve-year study.
