BROCTON, NY - The motorcyclists roared into Brocton down in Chautauqua County Sunday afternoon to show their support and love for the family of Damon Janes. He was the high school football player who passed away earlier this month after playing in a game.
While there are still questions about exactly what happened with his injury, motorcyclists, community residents and many others came together for a benefit spaghetti dinner at the Nickel Plate Depot.
Damon's grandmother spoke of what this all means to his family and how his passing has brought people from around the area, the country, and the world together. Linda Janes says "We've gotten condolences from Africa, from Sweden, from Germany. And we knew how special Damon was...we would kid...you know they broke the mold for you Damon. So whatever the purpose of Damon's death was maybe this is it. To show that with love and kindness, anything can be accomplished."
Donations are also being accepted at Community Bank branches and there will be another benefit from 1 to 7 PM at the Westfield Moose Lodge next Sunday, October 6th.
