ROCHESTER, N.Y. --New York Lt. Governor Robert Duffy refused to discuss speculation that he plans to quit the lieutenant governorship in order to succeed Sandra Parker as CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance, the local equivalent of the chamber of commerce.  Parker will retire at the end of the year.

"I've heard the rumors and I'm not going to comment," Duffy said at an event in Rochester Wednesday.

Parker, who was also at Wednesday's event wouldn't say if Duffy would be a good applicant for her job.

"I've not been involved at all," Parker said. "I have given my parameters for the job and I have recommended to the search committee that they hire someone local. I think that's important. My hope is that they hire someone before Dec. 31, 2013."

Duffy, who grew up in Rochester and often cites his upbringing in the city, left the mayor's post in 2010 to join Cuomo's statewide ticket.  He also served as the city's police chief.
