BUFFALO, NY--They are called Therapy Dogs and they're some of the most popular faces at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

David Marowski brings his therapy dog "Sierra" to Roswell to visit with patients in the lobby and in the waiting areas.

Last year his wife Dobie spent many months at Roswell being treated for breast cancer.

During that time David took Sierra each week to do therapy dog training to help his wife.

But after Dobie's treatment ended, they decided to return to Roswell regularly, to share what Sierra had learned with all the patients.

"It was about a total of 8 months training. one day per week at the kennel club and then homework," said David Marowski.

"And then when they see the dog it just puts a smile on their face and its like wow, that gave them a little bit of light and a little bit of hope ya know," added Dobie Marowski.

"It just takes away the harshness of not feeling good and make you feel better, said Roswell patient Gloria Long.

"They just do silly little things that make you laugh and giggle," Long added.

Sierra is a superstar at Roswell. she's great at making new friends and making them feel comfortable around her.  Her visits are a welcome distraction for patients.

David even admits that being with Sierra helped he and his wife with all that they were going through with her illness.

And Sierra's a bit of a good luck charm, too.

At Dobie's last check up in August, she was pronounced cancer free.
