BUFFALO, N.Y. - A bustling indoor market on Saturday mornings is just the beginning for the historic Horsefeathers Building on Connecticut Street on the city's West Side.

Developer Karl Frizlen is finishing up a three-year, $3.5 million renovation project.

The market is only temporary.  By May, 24 one and two-bedroom loft apartments will be ready to rent, and several permanent food vendors will set up shop on the first floor of the building.

"We are trying to bring people into this neighborhood and into this building that has been basically shuttered for the past three years," said Frizlen.

The Pasta Peddler is one of the local businesses who will rent space in the building.

"We've heard a lot about the West Side coming back, and we know a couple of owners right here on Connecticut Street that are doing fairly well.  [We're] hoping it will be good for us too," said owner Mike Sedia.

The mini storefronts with large glass windows will be a space where vendors can show how they make their product and then sell it.

The lofts will rent for between $700 and $1,000 per month.  Frizlen says there is already a waiting list forming.

The Horsefeathers indoor winter market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.  The building is located at 346 Connecticut Street.
