BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Earlier this week, we told you how the New York State Thruway authority will lay off more than 200 workers after leaders changed their mind about a toll hike on truckers.
We now know those with high salaries will not lose their jobs.
The authority says the layoffs will affect civil service workers, like toll takers.
In November, we reported the average annual salary in the authority's Buffalo office is about $78,000. When asked why white collar workers aren't being laid off, the authority told us that they have had their pay frozen.
