WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton has formally resigned as 67th secretary of state.

The former first lady, Senator, and presidential candidate logged almost a million miles in the air since joining the State Department four years ago.

This week Secretary Clinton told CNN she is looking forward to getting some rest.

She's handing over her office to former Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, whose nomination to the post was confirmed earlier this week.
