HAMBURG, N.Y. - It was a frosty reception Wednesday night for the only local state senator who voted in favor of Governor Cuomo's gun control legislation.
Republican Mark Grisanti spoke to the Western New York Safari Club, a group made up mainly of hunters. While the discussion in Hamburg remained civil, a few members openly questioned Grisanti about his vote.
One specific question touched on why there seems to be a lack of focus on penalties for those who commit crimes with guns.
Grisanti answered that New York does have increased penalties now, whether you commit a crime with a gun that's either loaded or not loaded.
Officers of the Safari Club say the meeting with Senator Grisanti brought out a much larger crowd than they'd normally see at their monthly meetings.
