BUFFALO, NY - Dozens of people are without a home following a fire overnight in Buffalo's Elmwood Village neighborhood.

Firefighters were called to a mixed-use residential building on Forest Avenue at the corner of Tremont Street around 3:00 Friday morning.

When they arrived, they found heavy fire inside the building.

Crews had a hard time putting out the blaze. At one point, firefighters were called out of the building just before the roof started to collapse.

About 25 to 30 people lived inside the building. All of them made it out safely and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
