AMHERST, NY - A motorcyclist traveling east on Maple Road was seriously injured in a collision with a vehicle turning left into the Boulevard Mall on Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m. Amherst police said the motorcycle was cut in half and launched into the air by the force of the impact.

Ryan Hudson, 25, of Amherst, the operator of the motorcycle, was taken to Erie County Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is not known at this time. The drive of the other vehicle, Linda Marie Johnson, 48, of Lockport, was taken to ECMC for observation.

Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash.
