BUFFALO, NY - Numerous police agencies from the state, federal and local levels conducted a large scale drug raid targeting several homes Wednesday morning.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation tells 2 On Your Side that the raids are the result of a drug investigation headed up by the FBI's Buffalo Safe Streets Task Force.
They say the investigation steams from, but is not exclusive to Buffalo's Perry Projects.
A source close to the investigation says that the drug investigation has been ongoing for the past three years.
At least 12 people have been taken into custody.
The raids started just before dawn and targeted properties in Cheektowaga, South Buffalo and the East Side, along with a home in the city's Fruit Belt neighborhood.
2 On Your Side cameras captured police activity at an apartment building on Fulton Street where officers from the Amherst Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team along with Buffalo Police were just wrapping up a raid.
We also witnessed authorities raiding a home along the 100 block of Orange Street.
Authorities targeted properties on Perry Street, Millicent Avenue, Erb Street, Orange Street and Maple Street in the city and Reo Avenue in Cheektowaga.
