NIAGARA FALLS, NY-- The Niagara Falls Police Department and several other local, state and federal agencies did a little spring cleaning in Niagara Falls early Monday morning.
Five homes and one motel in the Cataract City were raided. Six people were arrested.
Officers discovered quantities of marijuana, cocaine and illegal prescription drugs during the raids. They also seized a shotgun from one of the homes.
Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Brian DalPorto says the city responded to residents' complaints about the houses.
"These houses were active drug houses and a nuisance to the community," says DalPorto. "So, acting on that information that we received from the community, along with active investigations from our narcotics unit, we were able to secure search warrants for the locations. The purpose of this operation was to send a clear message that Niagara Falls is no longer the place to sell drugs."
Officials say investigations are continuing.
