BUFFALO, NY - Catholic Charities needs Western New Yorkers to help it reach its $10.7 million fundraising goal.
It is in need of $130,000 more dollars to reach the goal and ironically, that's approximately the same number of people it served last year.
If Catholic Charities does not reach its goal for the 2013 appeal, it will be forced to cut back on services it offers the public. It provides services like foster care, educational programs, adult day care, and couple and family counseling.
Catholic Charities serves everyone in different eight counties in Western New York, regardless of their religion. Catholic parishes have shown great support for the appeal, so now Catholic Charities is reaching out to the rest of the community for help.
"The majority of people we serve are not catholic and yet almost 90 percent of the people that give to us are catholic. So we really are especially inviting those who have not given. Those who are not part of the catholic parishes, but who value our service, who have been served by what we have to offer," Sister Mary McCarrick, Diocesan Director of Catholic Charities, said.
If you want to donate to the 2013 appeal, you can log on to Catholic Charities website or call 218-1400.
