BUFFALO, N.Y.  The great architecture and the tradition of Catholic Churches in the city of Buffalo has been well documented.

And now a new local event has been created to celebrate and help support these iconic churches.

It's called Buffalo Mass Mob, playing off the success of last year's Buffalo Cash Mob where people were invited en masse to flood a local business at a designated time, spend some money and help the business get noticed.

The Buffalo Mass Mob will invite Catholics and others from the suburbs and beyond to come into the city and have a cultural-historical experience.

"The idea is to have people come and experience a wonderful, beautiful church, that they may never have before.  Its very simple, very easy.  All they do is show up at the appointed Mass and celebrate Mass in the church," said Buffalo mass Mob co-founder Christopher Byrd

The goal is to host a Buffalo Mass Mob five or six times a year.

The first Mass Mob will take place this Saturday at St Adalbert's Basilica at 212 Stanislaus Street in Buffalo at 5:15pm.
