MAYVILLE, NY-- The defense for Anthony R. Taglianetti called another witness to the stand before they rested their defense.

Taglianetti is accused of killing Clymer Schools Superintendent Keith Reed last year.

Dunkirk Lt. Mark Polowy, who is also member of Chautauqua County forensic team, was called to the stand on Thursday.

Polowy testified he assisted in the search outside Reed's home, took pictures outside and pictures of items found inside the Silverado in driveway.

He said he took pictures of a semi-auto pistol (.45), which he believed to be loaded, found in truck center console.  He also photographed a magazine pouch, 2 clips with rounds sticking out of top (unknown total # rounds inside), single round and a billy club which was found in second vehicle on property.

During cross examination, Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley asked Polowy if he saw any signs of struggle in home.  Polowy testified he did not.

The jury was excused while attorneys and the judge discussed on the record possibility of a third witness.

The defense wanted to recall a former student of Reed's who testified for prosecution.  She had testified earlier that she and Reed were each others counselors.

The defense wanted her to further detail her relationship with Reed which they say could offer clues to his mental state.  The defense stated she had indicated that if called she would assert her 5th amendment rights.

The judge didn't see the relevance of calling her again.

Closing arguments are expected to begin sometime Friday at the jury's request, despite objections from the prosecution.
