WHEATFIELD, NY - Everyone has heard of "Ghost Towns" ...abandoned villages which serve as barren remnants of the old west.

But did you know there is something which amounts to a "ghost zoo" right here in Western New York?

Oppenheim Park on Niagara Falls Boulevard (US Rt. 62) in Wheatfield has all the usual trappings of a public reaction area.

But hidden among the overgrowth, down an abandoned road in the south east section of the park, are the remnants of the Oppenhiem Zoo, which closed more than 20 years ago.

Since then, an entire generation has passed with barely any knowledge of the place.
