BUFFALO, N.Y. -- It has been more than two month since Governor Cuomo announced a $50 million state investment at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus to establish a pharmaceutical drug research and development center. The money is the first installment of the one billion dollars Cuomo has promised to spent to revitalize the region's economy.

But since the announcement, state officials have been unwilling to discuss the project or address troubling details uncovered by our watchdog reporting partners at Investigative Post. Finally, the heads of the key partners in the project are talking.

It's modeled after a state initiative in the Albany region to develop a nanotechnology sector that over the past 25 years has created more than 3,000 high-paying jobs at an R&D hub operating out of the University at Albany and another 15,000 across New York.

Alain Kaloyeros, architect of the nanotech initiative in Albany, explains the model to Investigative Post Editor Jim Heaney. You can watch the entire interview by clicking on the video above.
