FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Hundreds turned out Monday night to talk about a controversial plan to replace Dunkirk's aging coal plant with a natural gas one.

NRG Energy, which owns the plant and National Grid, held a question and answer session in Fredonia.

Supporters say the move is a good economic investment that also cuts down on carbon emissions.  But opponents claim it's a step towards opening up the state to the controversial "fracking" gas drilling process.
