AMHERST, N.Y. -- Yet another vehicle crashed into a WNY business Friday afternoon, the second of the day.
An SUV crashed into the Dessert Deli in the Maple-Forest plaza in Amherst around 2 p.m. Amherst Police say the driver, Malinda Frank, 49, of Williamsville, hit an unoccupied van before hitting the store.
Frank was taken to ECMC for evaluation, but it's not believed she suffered any serious injuries.
Police have charged her with imprudent speed and driving while ability impaired by drugs. Officers say they found prescription pills inside her SUV.
The building sustained substantial damage, and the town's building inspector was called in to access the situation.
The owner told 2 On Your Side off camera that she was shaken up but thankful nobody was hurt. She was able to remain open by working out the back door of the deli. The owner also reassured customers, especially brides, that their desserts will not be delayed.
This is at least the 8th instance of a vehicle crashing into a business within just the month of September, according to 2 On Your Side's records.
