NORTH COLLINS, NY - Erie County Sheriff's Deputies believe that underage drinking may have played a role in an overnight crash that sent four people to the hospital.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

In a statement, the Sheriff's Office says that a 2002 Ford Focus missed a turn on Clarksburg Road causing it to enter a private driveway and strike a parked tractor-trailer.

The collision set both the car and the tractor-trailer on fire, however the drivers and passengers were all able to escape.

Deputies at the scene told 2 On Your Side that they believed the driver, 18 year old Ryan Alvarez of Orchard Park, was intoxicated. Charges are currently pending.

The driver and three passengers were all taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

16 year old Ryan Stebbins of Blasdell, 17 year old Lauren Evlla of Orchard Park, and Alvarez were all taken to ECMC and are listed in stable condition. 17 year old Erik Carrubba of Hamburg was taken to South Buffalo Mercy where he was treated and released.
