Former Price is Right host Bob Barker is saying "Come on down!" and endorsing Republican David Jolly in a special election for a Florida congressional seat.
"Folks, when you get to be as young as I am, you call it like you see it. That's why I'm supporting David Jolly for Congress," says Barker, now 90 years old, in the campaign ad.
Roll Call reported Jolly bought airtime for the commercial during Thursday's edition of The Price is Right, the game show Barker hosted from 1972 to 2007. Barker also happened to appear on the program, now hosted by comedian Drew Carey, that day to mark his 90th birthday.
Barker used to say "Come on down!" whenever a new contestant was introduced on the show.
Jolly, a lobbyist, is one of three Republicans running to succeed the late Rep. C.W. Bill Young, the longest-serving House Republican, who died on Oct. 18. Primaries will be held Jan. 14 and the special election is March 11.
Jolly is a former aide to Young, who is best known for his work on the Appropriations Committee to secure funding for Pentagon and veterans' programs. Barker said he "admired" Jolly who worked alongside his "good friend."
The campaign spot ends with an announcer saying "Because with Jolly the choice is right."
Jolly, who has the support of Young's widow, Beverly, faces state Rep. Kathleen Peters and retired brigadier general Mark Bircher. Democrats are backing Alex Sink, Florida's former chief financial officer and the 2010 Democratic nominee for governor.
