Danny Spewak did not know life existed outside of the state lines of Missouri until June 2013, when he joined the WGRZ team and ventured east of the Mississippi River for a change.
Quite the traveler, Danny grew up in St. Louis, attended the University of Missouri and also worked for KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate for mid-Missouri. He may be a Western New York rookie, but he shares a mutual love of chicken wings, football and giant lakes and waterfalls, so he feels right at home. Before joining Channel 2, Danny worked as a reporter, anchor, producer and live truck operator -- all the jobs, basically -- at KOMU. He also worked for a year as a high school and college sports reporter for Rivals.com, and to feed his unhealthy obsession with college basketball, his freelance work took him across the Midwest to cover NCAA Tournaments, conference tournaments and countless regular season games.
You'll be sure to see Danny at a college arena near you in Western New York during the winter months. He spends the rest of his free time running, playing pickup hoops, writing and spending an inordinate amount of energy rooting for St. Louis and MU sports teams. If you'd like to get in touch with Danny, send him an email at Danny.Spewak@WGRZ.com. Follow him on Twitter at www.twitter.com/DannySpewakWGRZ.

Some suggested amputation. Others rushed to the First Aid kit. A serious medical situation had arisen inside the Channel 2 newsroom, and there was a chance I wasn't going to make it.
