Yo-yo dieters may be healthier and live longer than those who stay obese.

Experts have long argued that constantly gaining and then losing weight is harmful to health.

But researchers at Ohio University found lab mice who ate a high fat diet weighed more, had more body fat and higher glucose levels than mice who switched between a high fat and low fat diet every four weeks.

The yo-yo dieters also lived 25-percent longer than the high fat animals ... and had a life span similar to those on an exclusively low fat diet.
