Dieters shouldn't worry when dining out -- a new study shows calorie counts on restaurant menus are accurate -- for the most part.

Researchers at Tufts University ordered food from over forty fast food and sit-down restaurants, and measured the amount of calories in each item.

They found low-calorie foods had slightly more calories than what was listed on the label, and high calorie foods had fewer calories. Soups and salads had the most variation in calories -- especially those ordered at sit-down restaurants.

Fast food restaurants had the most accurate calorie counts.

The study also showed pizza had the most consistent calories.
