In a commentary in the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers say our brains are wired to act first ... and think later.

A recent survey found nine out of ten shoppers make impulse purchases while at the grocery store ... which is why marketers put all those yummy treats at the checkout counter.

The survey revealed the average american woman eats over 14-thousand calories a year in impulse purchases alone ... while men consume a whopping 28-thousand extra calories!
