a new study finds cervical cancer screening is decreasing among women at low risk for the disease.

last year, a number of groups, including the american cancer society, recommended women should start getting pap smears at age 21.

now a report from the centers for disease control and prevention shows the percentage of women 18 to 21 years old who've never had a cervical cancer screening increased from a quarter in the year 2000 to nearly half in 2010.

however -- pap tests also dropped among women in their 20's -- who are recommended to get the exams every 3 years.
