Researchers are investigating whether a probiotic might be helpful in reducing gut inflammation in infants with colic.

Pediatric gastroenterologist Marc Rhoads says colic is fairly common - but is extremely stressful - and is associated with depression in parents.

this new study will look at the safety of a health promoting bacteria to see if it does reduce gut inflammation.

the probiotic has already been tested for three years on adults and was found to be safe. this new study at the university of texas will include 45 babies with colic.
