The best way to resist temptation... like luscious desserts or spendy shopping sprees... is to bypass it completely.

A new study from the UK finds willpower alone isn't often enough when faced with temptations.

Researchers there found the most impulsive people benefited most from something called "pre-commitment".

That means avoiding the cookie aisle in the grocery store altogether, or putting money away in savings accounts with hefty withdrawal fees.
