ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A trial has been delayed until next year for an upstate New York woman accused of buying the guns a convicted felon was carrying when he shot and killed firefighters during a Christmas Eve ambush last year.
A spokesman for the Monroe County district attorney's office says Dawn Nguyen's (WEHNS) trial is now scheduled for April. Jury selection had been set to begin Tuesday. The reason for the delay wasn't initially available.
She's charged with falsifying a business record. Prosecutors say Nguyen lied on a gun purchase form in 2010. They say she claimed a rifle and shotgun she bought were for her when they were really for ex-convict William Spengler Jr. She has denied the charges.
Spengler killed two firefighters and wounded two others in Webster last December. He killed himself following a gunfight with police. Nguyen faces similar charges in federal court.
