Buffalo, N.Y. - Looking for an afternoon pick-me-up? Forgot to eat breakfast? No worries, Liquid Energy has you covered. From meal replacement shakes to wheatgrass shots - there's something for everyone on this menu.
Liquid Energy, located at 298 Main Street inside of the Cathedral Building in downtown Buffalo, officially opened about 3 weeks ago. The owner, Meghan Bromley, says she wanted to bring a taste of the West Coast health food scene to Buffalo.
"Five years ago I was diagnosed with a gluten, nut, corn syrup and milk allergies," said Bromley. "Being in Buffalo, there's not a lot to be offered as far as food varieties for allergy-friendly foods and I'd always go to juice bars outside of Buffalo and thought it would be such a great idea to have that in Buffalo."
Liquid Energy offers a wide variety of fruit and vegetable-based juices and shakes. The highlight of the menu though, is wheatgrass, an ingredient not commonly found in Western New York.
"It's packed full of vitamins and minerals and it's equivalent to two and a half pounds of green vegetables," said Bromley. "It's so detoxifying to your body ... it gives you instant energy and it tastes great."
Every item on the menu not only tastes great, but also packs a lot of great health benefits too.
"We designed our menu specifically for whether you are looking for a meal replacement, a cleanser, or just for a treat. Our juices are specifically designed for cleansing -- if you want something good for your skin, immunity. A lot of people in Buffalo are always sick and we have vitamins that go into our drinks like D-3 and B-12 for energy."
There's even a drink for the person who had a little too much to drink.
"One of my wheatgrass elixirs is a hangover helper. It has oranges, bananas, spirulina and wheatgrass. They cleanse your body of all your toxins which helps when you have alcohol in your system."
