BUFFALO, NY - The NFTA is looking for mechanics to fill a number of open positions in the Queen City.

Dozens of applicants attended an open house and took a tour of the Cold Spring bus maintenance office with hopes of filling the 10 open spots.

The new employees would start at just under $16 an hour plus benefits.

Many of those who turned out are looking to get back into the workforce after tough times.

David Rugg, NFTA Maintenance Manager, said, "A lot of people have had a place in their life where they were turned down, or they may have lost a job. The average age of the person we have hired in the past few years is in the 45-55 age bracket. They're all good workers and have a lot of year left."

if you couldn't attend the event and are interested in applying, can download an application on the NFTA website.
