There is a global crisis of starving, malnourished children. And now a national nonprofit group is making a special trip to Buffalo to give us a chance to help out.
Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization that provides nutritionally complete meals to hungry children in 70 countries. For two days in September, they are bring their mobile pack event here. A semi truck will drive into town with all the ingredients needed to pack into life sustaining meals. Meals that help children like 8 year old Omar from El Salvador. Here's what he looked like before receiving his meals - and here's what he looks like now. To make the event a success - organizers here say they need your support.
Local organizer Kim Kotz says, "We are looking right now for donations. We're in the fund raising portion of this event. Each meal we package costs just 22 cents. And our goal is to package 100,000 meals over the 2 days."
The group is looking for donations from local individuals, businesses, groups and churches. They also need over 500 volunteers to help pack the meals during the 2 day event in September.
