WELLSVILLE, N.Y. - An interesting turn of events for the Catholic Diocese Saturday as a retired Episcopal priest, who is married with grown children, is now ordained as a Catholic priest.
John Cornelius, 64, took his vows as a priest in a mass celebrated by Bishop Richard Malone at 5 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
Earlier this week 2 on our Side's Dave McKinley sat down with Cornelius to ask why he was making this change.
Cornelius says he took the opportunity provided by Pope Benedict allowing Episcopalians and Anglicans to take a clergy position in the Catholic Church.
Cornelius will help celebrate masses at rural churches in Allegany County.
