ALBANY, NY--  Rochester, get ready for your closeup.

Film crews will be in Rochester on Friday to scout filming locations for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," a planned sequel to the 2012 blockbuster that took in more than $750 million in box office revenue worldwide.

Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group will receive state tax credits to shoot the entire film in New York, mostly in New York City and on Long Island, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office. But the film production will be in the Rochester area for a 10-to-15-day stay that will include the filming of a car-chase scene, the governor's office said.

"There is no better place to film the next adventure of Peter Parker than right here in the Empire State," Cuomo said in a statement. "New York has the resources, talent and locations to help make 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' a blockbuster hit. This production will also help generate new jobs and economic activity both upstate and downstate which is great news for our local communities and fans of the franchise."

New York's film tax credit covers 30 percent of production and post-production costs for movies or television series that film in the state. Cuomo has proposed extending the tax-credit program in his proposed budget, but critics have questioned whether the incentives provide a lasting economic impact.

Cuomo's office said the Columbia TriStar is expected to hire 3,500 workers for the filming, with 250 working upstate, as well as "a few hundred extras." The company also expects to book 3,000 hotel rooms in both Rochester and on Long Island.

The full movie shoot is scheduled for 150 days, including 50 days in Nassau County and the time in Rochester.
