BUFFALO, N.Y. - There is yet another sign of spring along the waterfront, as the Buffalo Naval and Military Park opened for the season Saturday.

The park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 31st.

Last year was one of the most successful years for the Queen City attraction with more than 58,000 visitors.

Executive Director and retired Army Colonel Patrick Cunningham attributes the record year to more development and events at Canalside, along with Navy Week.

The park is home to the USS Little Rock, a 610-foot guided missile cruiser; the USS Croaker submarine; and the USS The Sullivans, a destroyer named for five brothers who enlisted in the Navy and were killed in the line of duty in 1942.

Park admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6 to 16 and seniors.

The Liberty Hound restaurant opened last year, as did a new War of 1812 exhibit at the park's museum.
