A Rochester teen is in satisfactory condition after fireworks exploded in his hands in Murray, Orleans County, on Thursday.
Brent A. Mead, 19, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight after fireworks failed to launch from the mortar he was holding, according to the Orleans County Sheriff's Office.
The explosion, which occurred about 5:45 p.m. at a campsite on private property along Route 104, caused injuries to Mead's chest and hands, police said.
The remaining fireworks were confiscated by police. Mead may be charged for having the fireworks, police said.
