BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Downtown Buffalo's newest Italian restaurant, Osteria, is now open.
Owner Nick Pitillo has been in the restaurant business for a long time, and his family's roots in the industry date back a century.
Osteria is Italian for casual pub, and that's what the owner and chef are going for -- a comfortable atmosphere with great food and drinks.
Menu items include delicious grilled octopus, freshly-made pizzas that you cut with scissors, and some incredible pasta dishes.
Chef Jeff Cooke (yes the cook's name is Cooke haha) cooked up some of his favorites for a taste test, which you can see in the video player.
The bar at Osteria has several locally-brewed beers on tap and 30 bottles of wine for under $30.
Osteria, located at 166 Franklin at the corner of West Mohawk, is open for lunch and dinner Mondays through Fridays and dinner only on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
The restaurant celebrated its official grand opening this past Wednesday, August 21.
