BUFFALO, NY -- Halloween may be long over, but trick or treat continues, at least in the form of this attack ad, by the same name, against Kathy Hochul.

Trick or treat could actually be called, tit for tat, because it makes claims about Hochul profiting from investments in China, which another ad -- produced by her supporters, made about her opponent Chris Collins, an ad which we've debunked as being misleading in the past.

Collins says, "she kind of raised an issue, so others are saying hey wait a second. If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones."

But, the ad itself is produced by a political action committee, so Collins can truthfully claim he had no part in producing it.  Still, when asked, Collins says, "I'm not going to disavow Mrs. Hochul for her investments in China."

CLAIM: Hochul treated herself, personally profiting from companies that outsource or do business with China.

But that's misleading, because what it's referring to are mutual funds owned by Hochul, as listed on her personal financial disclosure forms.

2 On Your Side's Dave McKinley asked Collins, "if anyone owns a mutual fund, they probably have investments in China."

Collins responded, "well, I'm not saying otherwise, but she is the one claiming I've created jobs in China which I've never done."

Hochul says, "if they wanna play games they can continue but I think it's starting to backfire. People up here in Albion, Medina, talking in diners, they've had it. They want us to talk about real issues."

Perhaps the scariest part about this halloween themed ad, is that the PAC which made it is spent $900,000 to produce and air it.

It's part of the more than $5 million in outside spending on this race so far.
