Two Injured in Serious Accident

IRVING, N.Y. -- Erie County Sheriff's deputies say drunk driving was the cause of a one car injury accident on Milestrip Rd. on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservtion early Sunday morning.

The driver, 21-year old Jeremy Long of Dunkirk, was traveling east on Milestrip Rd. when he slammed into a guardrail on the south side of the road instead of rounding a curve. He continued to the north side of the road, slamming into another guardrail and rolling over on to a tree.

Long was partially ejected from the vehicle, while the passenger, 20-year old Reuben Vanevery of Irving, was found at the scene having been completely ejected. Neither men were wearing seatbelts.

Mercy Flight arrived on scene to take both men to ECMC with serious injuries.

Long, listed in serious condition, was arrested and charged at ECMC with DWI and various other traffic infractions. Vanevery is listed in critical condition.

The incident is still under futher investigation.
