LeROY, N.Y. -- A substitute teacher at the LeRoy Central School district has been let go by the district for allegedly making an insensitive comment regarding the illness that more than a dozen students are dealing with.
The district released this statement through an attorney:
A substitute teacher made an insensitive comment related to the current student health situation during a conversation with several students. Given the poor judgment shown with respect to the comment, the individual was informed that his services were no longer needed by the District.
It's unknown if any of the students that are afflicted with the illness were in the class at the time.
The LeRoy School Board approved this week a second round of environmental testing at the high school where several students have been diagnosed with conversion disorder. The disorder causes them to tic uncontrollably.
