BURLINGTON, Ontario (AP) - A spokeswoman for Canada's Via Rail says a passenger train traveling from Niagara Falls to Toronto has derailed near Burlington, Ontario.
Railroad spokeswoman Michelle Lamarche said two cars came off the tracks around 3:30 p.m. Sunday near the Aldershot train station. Canadian television outlets are reporting that three locomotive engineers have been killed. Three passengers were airlifted to London and Toronto hospitals with serious injuries while dozens of others are suffering from minor injuries.
Lamarche told CTV that a device similar to a black box will help investigators to determine what caused the disaster.
Train 92 was travelling eastbound from Niagara Falls to Toronto. There were 75 people and four crew members aboard the train.
