BUFFALO, NY - Army Specialist Stephen Wagner is home for the first time since he was seriously injured in Afghanistan in July.

Spc. Wagner was surprised to see a television camera greet him at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. His sister Libby Gaymon wanted to show her love and support for her brother.

The father of three will spend a little over a week at home in Western New York.

In July, Spc. Wagner suffered a major leg injury. He was riding in the back of a humvee when it was blown up by an improvised explosive device.
Two of his friends in the front of the vehicle were killed.

Spc. Wagner will return to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to continue his rehabilitation. "My back is pretty messed up and my foot is getting better. I'm starting to walk a little bit here and there. So hopefully in the next two weeks, I'll be out of this (wheel) chair."

Gaymon could only smile as her brother arrived. " He's going through a lot. I think my brother has a lot of regret of what happened, what should've happened, what could've happened. There was nothing he could of done. I know it's weighing heavy on him."

While home, Spc. Wagner plans to spend all of his time with his family and friends. "Mentally he needed this, he needed to get out, to start doing normal things."
