West Seneca, NY - The City of Buffalo is considering a law requiring cat owners to license their pets. Now, leaders in the Town of West Seneca are considering similar legislation.
Town leaders were originally thinking about limiting the number of cats per household to four, but decided to change that following a public hearing.
West Seneca Town Supervisor Sheila Meegan says, "About 80% of the people that attended the meeting were in favor of licensing cats. We would be the first municipality to do such a thing. But that being said, the revenues that would be received would go back to taking care of the cat population."
Whatever town leaders decide to do, they will have to hold another public hearing to get feedback before they vote.
