Dunkirk investigators say the man was walking next to the railroad tracks near Main Street shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by the train.
"We always encourage people to not walk on or near railroad tracks," said David Ortolano, City of Dunkirk Chief of Police. "Tragedies can happen."
