BUFFALO, N.Y. -- New Buffalo School Superintendent Dr. Pamela Brown spent some time with parents Thursday night to connect and outline her vision of success for the kids.

Brown believes it is imperative that students are prepared for both college and careers after school, and a lot of work needs to be done.

Last year, the graduation rate was 47% when the state average was close to 80%.  She plans to focus on academic performance, lowering the suspension rates, increasing graduation rates while increasing test scores.  But she believes it's imperative that the attendance rate increase quickly.

"When a student misses at least ten percent of days in any school year, that has dire implications for the childs ability to be on grade level and perform at level they need to perform in order to be successful as a student," said Dr. Brown.

Brown told the parents that every child deserves to have a world class education and wants to work together with parents to ensure the success of their children.
