ALBANY, NY - New York State Troopers will be out in force this holiday week in an effort to keep roadways safe.
With the holidays here, many folks will be taking to the roads to visit family and friends.
In addition to regular patrols, troopers will be conducting checkpoints for impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers.
"The Holiday Season is a special time for families and friends, and getting there safely needs to be the primary focus of every driver on the road," said Police Superintendent Joseph A. D'Amico. "With the high traffic volumes we anticipate, the stakes are just too high. So we are redoubling our efforts to minimize tragedies."
Last year at this time, Troopers issued 4,353 speeding tickets and arrested 277 drivers for DWI.
