BUFFALO, NY-The Veteran's Administration has reversed their decision and the Golden Age Games will be held in Buffalo later this spring as originally planned.

The announcement was made Monday by Congressman Brian Higgins and Senator Charles Schumer.

The 27th annual "Warriors on the Waterfront" event will bring nearly 1,000 veteran athletes to the area along with a financial impact of some $2.2 million to the local economy.

On March 19th, the VA unexpectedly announced plans to "postpone" the Games despite registrations and travel arrangements already in place.

"When we heard that the Department of Veterans Affairs had abruptly and indefinitely postponed this competition for our heroes, we knew we weren't going down without a fight," said Senator Schumer, "and today Western New York's veteran community and the local economy are victorious."

"This is just the latest example of what is possible when Western New York stands up for itself," said Congressman Higgins. "We appreciate the VA Secertary's reconsideration and look forward to hosting our honorable servicemembers from across the country at this year's Warriors on the Waterfront Games in Western New York."

The event is set to take place May 30th through June 4th. It's open to military veterans age 55 and over and will be held at a number of different sites including Erie Community College and the Audubon Golf course.
