ALBANY, NY ---   Gov. Andrew Cuomo vetoed 202 line items in the state budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year, which started April 1.

Cuomo announced the vetoes late Wednesday after he and state lawmakers reached a deal late last month on a $136 billion budget. The vetoes were mainly a formality; he made 120 vetoes for projects were the money had already been spent.

There were four member items that he rejected because they were trying to be re-purposed for other projects. Member items are legislative earmarks that were stopped several years ago, but some old members items continue to be reauthorized.

About 45 vetoes were made for budget items that were appropriated in 2005 or earlier but were not spent, according to Cuomo's budget office.

Last year, Cuomo made 129 vetoes.

The state Legislature could override Cuomo's vetoes with a two-thirds majority vote. But they are not expected to oppose his actions.
