Headstones Destroyed in Dunkirk Car Crash

DUNKIRK, NY - Several headstones in St. Mary's Cemetery in Dunkirk were destroyed Tuesday morning after a car accident.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department, Larry Wollert, 70, was driving south on Route 60 when he suffered a medical condition and lost consciousness.

His vehicle swerved into the northbound lane, struck another car and a telephone pole before continuing into the cemetery.

Wollert and the driver of the second car, Kim Robbins, 53, were taken to Brooks Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
