Daisy, resting in the Rainbow Animal Shelter
BUFFALO, NY - The director of Buffalo's City Animal Shelter was suspended for a week, according to sources, following allegations that she showed up to work intoxicated.
Kelly McCartney has been the director for years, and returned to work earlier this week.
Multiple sources tell us McCartney was given a breathalyzer test at work and then ordered to leave.
She is a union employee, and therefore any disciplinary action would fall under the collective bargaining agreement.
2 On Your Side reached out to a city spokesperson, who would only say he couldn't comment on personnel issues.
Several people with direct contact at the shelter told us they believe the welfare of the animals is at risk due to this issue with the director.
2 On Your Side made multiple calls to McCartney's home and office, but she has not responded to a request for comment.
